A Simple Practice

Guided Practice

Close your eyes.

Take a slow breath.

Now simply observe what your mind does.

Do thoughts appear?

Does the mind begin narrating?

Does it jump from one idea to another?

Don’t try to control it.

monitor it.

Even after a few seconds, you may notice something interesting.

Your thoughts are happening…

but you are also aware of them.

That awareness is the beginning of noticing.

This simple observation is the foundation for everything that follows on this journey.

Something to Sit With

If you can observe your thoughts…
where are your thoughts coming from?

Your thoughts are now something you experience.
Something you notice.

Did you notice the creation of the thought…
or did it simply appear?

So the question becomes:
If you are the one creating your thoughts…
who is the one noticing them?

You don’t need to answer immediately.
Just notice.

When you’re ready, return to continue the lesson.
